A well-established lower middle-market private equity firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting both management company accounting and fund-level operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for the management company.
- Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations while investigating and resolving variances.
- Process accounts payable and maintain vendor relationships.
- Assist with fund accounting, including capital calls, distributions, capital account maintenance, and quarterly investor reporting.
- Support the preparation of management company and fund tax returns.
- Coordinate audit requests and assist with investor reporting requirements.
- Monitor quarterly financial performance of portfolio companies.
- Help improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiencies.
- Participate in special projects as the finance function continues to grow.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Three or more years of accounting experience, or at least two years in public accounting with audit, tax, or assurance experience.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with general ledger/accounting software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
- Eagerness to learn and take on increasing responsibility.
Preferred
- Public accounting background.
- CPA designation or active progress toward CPA licensure.
- Experience with, or a strong interest in, private equity or fund accounting (training provided).
