We are partnering with a publicly traded, growth-oriented banking organization in Baton Rouge to identify a SVP, Treasury Accounting Officer. This is a highly visible leadership role with direct exposure to executive leadership and the Board, offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the organization’s financial strategy, balance sheet performance, and long-term growth.
This position sits at the intersection of treasury, accounting, and financial strategy, with responsibility for managing the bank’s balance sheet, including liquidity, funding, capital structure, and risk management, while also supporting core accounting and reporting functions.
Key Responsibilities
The role will include a split of responsibiiles of approximately 60% focused on Treasury and 40% on accounting. This will include leading a small team (two analysis), and a combination of both strategic and hands-on responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Lead the bank’s liquidity strategy, ensuring the organization maintains appropriate cash levels to support daily operations while proactively forecasting needs based on market conditions and growth objectives.
- Oversee funding and capital strategy, including optimizing the bank’s capital structure, managing funding sources (deposits and wholesale), and aligning capital deployment with broader business goals.
- Monitor and manage the bank’s exposure to interest rate and liquidity risk, developing strategies to protect performance and maintain a strong financial position in changing market environments.
- Utilize and oversee hedging strategies and derivative instruments to mitigate interest rate volatility, including support of back-to-back derivative activity as needed.
- Manage the bank’s investment portfolio, including strategy, trade execution, safekeeping, and ongoing valuation of securities.
- Ensure adherence to SOX controls and regulatory requirements, partnering closely with internal and external auditors and supporting regulatory examinations.
- Oversee the pricing and collateralization of public fund deposits, ensuring competitiveness while maintaining compliance and risk standards.
- Play a key role in facilitating presentations for the Asset Liability Committee, ALCO, including preparing and presenting materials, facilitating discussions, and contributing to strategic balance sheet decisions.
- Support broader financial reporting and strategic initiatives, including contributions to annual reports, proxy materials, and planning efforts.
- Partner with leadership on investor relations activities, including preparation for meetings, presentations, and external communications.
- Maintain a strong focus on regulatory compliance, ensuring all treasury and accounting activities align with applicable laws, policies, and internal standards.
- Collaborate with auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure timely, accurate, and transparent responses to all inquiries and examinations.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of policies, procedures, and governance practices that support the Board and executive leadership.
- Operate with a high level of accountability, ensuring all work is completed in alignment with organizational standards, regulatory expectations, and best practices.
Leadership & Visibility
- Serve as a key member of the senior management team, with regular interaction with the CEO, CFO, and Board
- Participate in investor relations activities, including meetings and presentations
- Lead and develop a team of treasury analysts, fostering growth, mentorship, and enhanced analytical capabilities
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in finance, accounting or related field required.
- MBA, CTP or CPA preferred.
- 7+ years’ experience in treasury, accounting and finance related roles
- Deep understanding of:
- Asset Liability Management (ALM) / ALCO
- Interest rate risk and liquidity management
- Investment / bond portfolio management (strongly preferred)
- Balance sheet strategy within a financial institution or heavily regulated environment
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop talent
- Strong executive presence with comfort interacting at the C-suite and Board level
Preferred Experience:
- Banking or financial services or other highly regulated industries (healthcare, energy, construction, insurance, financial institutions, etc.)
- Public company experience and SOX exposure
