Director of Purchasing | Leading Food Distribution

Location: Florence, SC (On-site), possibly another in the Charlotte, NC area.

Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 + 30% Annual Bonus

Your Mission

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a standardized, world-class category management platform that optimizes procurement performance and drives bottom-line growth.

• Supplier Partnerships: Move beyond transactional buying. Build deep, high-level relationships with key supplier partners to align business plans with market-leading strategies.

• Operational Excellence: Modernize our procurement ecosystem by integrating advanced e-commerce tools and IT solutions into our long-range strategic plans.

• Team Transformation: Assess, mentor, and elevate a high-performing procurement team, establishing clear accountabilities and a culture of continuous improvement.

• Internal Synergy: Act as a key bridge between procurement, sales, and operations to ensure our product selection perfectly matches our customers' evolving needs.

What You Bring

• Industry Pedigree: 5–7+ years of leadership experience within food or grocery distribution (experience with major competitors like SYSCO, US Foods, PFG, or C&S Wholesale is highly preferred).

• Category Mastery: A proven track record of managing complex categories, improving margins, and implementing procurement policies that stick.

• Analytical Mindset: Proficiency in leveraging data and IT integration to drive purchasing decisions.

• Leadership Presence: The ability to communicate complex business drivers compellingly to both executive leadership and ground-level staff.
