Maintenance Supervisor – Automated Manufacturing

Compensation: $115,000–$135,000 base + bonus
Schedule: 2nd Shift
Overview
A well-established soap and personal care products manufacturer are adding a Maintenance Supervisor to lead daily maintenance operations within an assigned department at its large, highly automated production facility.
The right person for this role leads from the floor, not from a desk. You will be expected to build trust with your team, hold people accountable, and stay close to both the equipment and the people keeping it running. If you have a strong maintenance background, a hands-on leadership style, and experience working in a union environment, this is worth a serious look.
What the Job Involves
- Build, coach, and develop a team of 16 mechanics and electricians through direct engagement, structured training, and consistent follow-through
- Step in on complex electrical and mechanical troubleshooting alongside your team when production is at stake (union shop so merely coaching only)
- Handle workforce planning responsibilities including scheduling, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of maintenance staff
- Hold the team to safety standards every day and create a culture where safe work is non-negotiable
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams and contribute actively to capital improvement projects
What They Need
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
- Degree or technical certification preferred; candidates with a high school diploma or GED and strong relevant experience will be considered
- Hands-on background diagnosing and repairing both electrical and mechanical systems on production equipment
- Track record of developing maintenance technicians and improving team performance over time
- Comfortable reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics
- Clear communicator who can work across departments and lead a team with consistency and accountability
- Experience in a union manufacturing environment is preferred
- Must have manufacturing experience in a complex operation with a lot of different types of equipment, prefer high-speed packaging, CPG, food or personal care products manufacturing background is a plus
- PLC troubleshooting familiarity is a plus
