HR Generalist – Manufacturing (East of Des Moines)
Full-Time | On-site | HR | Bilingual helpful
Workweek: Mon - Thurs - 4 10 hour days.
A well-established, rapidly growing manufacturing operation east of Des Moines is seeking a proactive and resourceful HR Generalist to support a dynamic, team-driven environment. This facility specializes in the fabrication, welding, assembly, and industrial painting of large, engineered-to-order components.
This is an excellent opportunity to work under a highly respected HR Manager while making a meaningful impact across multiple areas of Human Resources—employee relations, onboarding, policy administration, performance management, and more. The facility includes a significant number of native Spanish-speaking employees, so bilingual ability is a plus (though not required).
Please note: relocation assistance is not available for this role.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee and management inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Lead onboarding and orientation efforts for new hires, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
- Support investigations into complaints and employee concerns while promoting a fair and inclusive culture.
- Assist in benefits administration, leave tracking (FMLA, LOA, Workers’ Comp), and performance review processes.
- Maintain accurate personnel files, HRIS records, and reporting logs for compliance purposes.
- Coordinate workforce planning initiatives and employee engagement activities.
- Support unemployment claim responses and assist with confidential investigations as needed.
- Ensure on-site HR presence until at least 7:00 PM one evening per week.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field—or equivalent work experience.
- At least 3 years of HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with HRIS systems such as UltiPro.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required.
Why This Role Stands Out:
- Be part of a fast-paced, high-impact manufacturing environment.
- Join a collaborative HR team committed to continuous improvement and employee well-being.
- Help shape culture and retention initiatives during an exciting growth phase.
