Rowntree Gardens is hiring a FT Therapist for their OP clinic. This would also include occasional work in our SNF unit.

JOB SUMMARY

The Occupational Therapist works within their Ethical Scope of Practice at all times, follows all State and Federal laws pertaining to healthcare delivery; completes evaluations, treatments and documentation in a timely manner; works cooperatively with team members, all internal and external customers and strives to positively represent their discipline and their company in the community.

Job Duties:

Evaluations

  • Provide occupational therapy evaluations as ordered by a physician and obtain insurance verification/authorization before initiating the eval.
  • Complete evaluations within a timely manner of receiving the physicians order, or place a note in the chart stating reasons for delay in initiation of the eval.
  • Obtain a clarification order or physician signature per facility protocol.

Treatment

  • ·Provide treatment as ordered by a physician.
  • Ensure that insurance authorization has been obtained prior to treatment.
  • Provide treatment appropriate to eval findings and within the professional scope of practice and individual level of expertise.
  • Will report deviations from scheduled treatment minutes to Director of Rehab or Rehab Coordinator.
  • Update treatment plans as needed to meet desired outcomes.
  • Include staff and family caregiver training in treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Instruct Occupational Therapy Assistants in needed protocols of treatment for each patient.
  • Instruct rehab aides to carry out appropriate duties to support the provision of occupational therapy services.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants as per scope of practice/licensure guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly and as needed to other team members and on-call therapists regarding patient care issues.
  • Ensure a discharge order is obtained at the conclusion of Occupational Therapy services unless the patient is discharged from the facility
  • Coordinate scheduling issues with team members and the staffing coordinator as needed.
  • Manage time and prioritize responsibilities to meet productivity expectations.
  • Will provide only such treatment as allowed by the OT Board. If not possessing advanced practice approval, will not provide swallowing evaluation or treatment, hand therapy or use physical agent modalities unless operating under the guidelines approved by the Board for working towards this approval.

Screenings

  • Complete screenings on residents as requested.
  • Will make no recommendations based on a screening other than whether an evaluation is warranted.

Documentation

  • Will complete all required documentation in a timely manner to include evaluation, progress reports, daily encounter note, discharge summaries, screening forms as needed, and any other facility specific documentation.
