Litigation Paralegal
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Litigation Support & Case Management:
-
Support attorneys through all phases of general liability and professional liability litigation.

Manage and maintain litigation case files, ensuring documents and case materials are organized, accurate, and readily accessible.

Assist with litigation matters in both state and federal courts.
-
Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.
-
Communicate with clients, courts, vendors, and outside counsel regarding case status and procedural matters.
-
Maintain and monitor litigation calendars, including court dates, discovery deadlines, and internal milestones.

Organize and manage electronic document management systems and case databases.
Discovery & Document Management:
-
Assist with all phases of the discovery process, including drafting discovery requests and responses.

Organize document productions and assist with document review and management.
-
Track discovery deadlines and ensure materials are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.

Follow up with providers and other parties to obtain records and documentation needed to support litigation matters.

Ensure litigation documents and records are properly organized and maintained throughout the life of each case.
Subpoenas & Records Coordination:
-
Prepare, issue, serve, and track subpoenas in accordance with applicable procedures and deadlines.
-
Communicate with medical providers, records custodians, vendors, and other third parties regarding subpoena requests.

Monitor subpoena service and compliance.
-
Follow up on outstanding requests and coordinate the collection and production of responsive documents.

Maintain accurate records of subpoena activity, responses, and outstanding items.
Motion Practice & Trial Preparation:

Support attorneys with motion practice and other litigation filings.
-
Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, witness materials, and trial binders.
-
Assist with creating PowerPoint presentations and other materials for hearings, depositions, trials, and attorney presentations.
-
Ensure case materials are complete, organized, and available for attorney review.
-
On occasion, attend hearings and trials with attorneys to provide litigation support.
Communication & Administrative Support:

Coordinate with attorneys, clients, courts, vendors, and outside counsel to keep litigation matters on schedule.

Monitor deadlines and proactively communicate outstanding tasks or potential issues.
-
Maintain accurate case records and update litigation databases as needed.
-
Provide general administrative and organizational support to the litigation team.
-
Take initiative in identifying ways to improve case organization, document management, and workflow efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
-
1-3 years of litigation experience as a paralegal or legal secretary.
-
Experience supporting litigation matters; general liability or professional liability experience is preferred.

Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, discovery, subpoenas, and case management.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Proficiency with PDF software and electronic document management systems.
-
Familiarity with document management platforms such as iManage is a plus.
-
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and case-related responsibilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to conduct legal research and clearly summarize findings.

Ability to work independently while effectively supporting attorneys and working as part of a team.
