Technical Sales Engineer – Conveyor & Process Belts

Location: Remote – United States
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Sales
Reports To: Sales Leadership

Build Solutions. Solve Problems. Win Business.

Are you the type of technical salesperson who would rather understand why a customer's process isn't working than simply sell them another product?

Our client is looking for a Technical Sales Engineer – Conveyor & Process Belts to join their U.S. sales organization and become a trusted technical resource for customers facing complex conveying and processing challenges.

This is not a transactional sales role. You'll work directly with customers to understand what is happening in their operation, identify the underlying problem, evaluate alternatives, and develop a technically sound and commercially viable solution.

The ideal candidate combines engineering knowledge, consultative selling ability, and hands-on customer problem-solving skills.

What You'll Do

  • Lead technical and commercial discovery with customers to understand their operational challenges, constraints, and requirements.

  • Visit customer facilities to diagnose problems and develop practical solutions.

  • Translate complex or ambiguous customer needs into clear technical and commercial solutions.

  • Serve as a technical authority and trusted advisor, including challenging customer assumptions when another approach will produce a better result.

  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs, risks, alternatives, and potential outcomes.

  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, solution comparisons, and recommendations that help customers make informed decisions.

  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and project execution teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible and commercially competitive.

  • Develop new customer opportunities while expanding relationships through successful technical outcomes.

  • Take ownership of the solution process from initial discovery through customer decision.

  • Build long-term customer trust by solving problems rather than simply selling products.

The Problems You'll Help Solve

Customers rely on you to understand their processes and determine the right belting solution for their application.

That means you'll encounter situations where the answer isn't immediately obvious. You'll need to ask the right questions, understand the customer's process, identify constraints, evaluate alternatives, and explain why one solution is better than another.

Your ability to combine technical credibility with commercial judgment will be critical.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical Sales, Service, Applications, or similar customer-facing role.

  • Experience with industrial belting, preferably lightweight conveyor belts.

  • Strong mechanical/technical aptitude and the ability to understand customer processes and applications.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to independently manage customer relationships, opportunities, and technical challenges.

  • Strong documentation and value-selling skills.

  • Fluent English.

  • Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed.

The Ideal Background

You may be a particularly strong fit if you've worked with:

  • Conveyor or process belts

  • Lightweight conveyor belts

  • Material handling systems

  • Industrial equipment

  • Process equipment

  • Packaging machinery

  • Food processing equipment

  • Automation or conveying systems

  • Industrial components or engineered products

  • Technical products requiring application-based selling

We're less interested in someone who simply knows a product catalog and more interested in someone who can walk into a customer's facility, ask the right questions, understand the application, diagnose the problem, and develop the right solution.

Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to move beyond transactional selling and play a meaningful role in how customers solve their most challenging operational problems.

You'll have the autonomy to own customer opportunities, work with technical and engineering resources, and develop solutions that create measurable value for the customer.

If you're energized by complex problems, technical conversations, customer interaction, and finding the right answer when there isn't an obvious one, this could be an excellent opportunity to put those skills to work.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means becoming the person customers call when they have a difficult conveying or processing problem.

You'll earn credibility by understanding their operation, asking better questions, developing sound solutions, and demonstrating the value of those solutions commercially.

In short:

Understand the problem. Engineer the solution. Create customer value. Win the business.
