Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders; assess home environment and identify equipment needs.
- Develop and implement individualized, physician-approved plans of care with measurable therapy goals.
- Provide dysphagia therapy and recommend appropriate diet modifications in coordination with the care team.
- Recommend and train patients and caregivers on AAC devices and home exercise programs.
- Monitor progress, adjust the care plan as needed, and submit accurate clinical documentation per JCAHO standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PT, OT, and other team members through care conferences and interdisciplinary planning.
Qualifications:
- A degree and an internship from an approved master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology or as required by applicable law and/or regulation
- Meet the education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, granted by the American Speech-Language Pathology, granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
Required Certifications and Licensures:
- Certified to practice Speech-Language Pathology, with a minimum of one (1) year’s clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology
- Must possess and maintain valid CPR certification while employed in a clinical role
- Valid driver’s license and an automobile that is insured
