Production Supervisor

Shift Supervisor (2nd Shift) 1:30pm to 10pm M-F
Location: Boyne City, MI
Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 (Base)
We are a medical device manufacturing company seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for their 2nd shift operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong manufacturing background, preferably with CNC production experience.
Position Overview
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production activities during the assigned shift, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are consistently met. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
- CNC production experience strongly preferred
- Experience as a People Leader
- Experience with an ERP system
- 5S and Lean Manufacturing experience

- Proven ability to lead, coach, and manage production teams
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and workflow optimization
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of inspection, measurement, and testing equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8–10+ hours), including frequent bending and twisting
- Periodic desk work and computer use
- Vision correctable to 20/20 and ability to distinguish colors
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage all production activities during assigned shift
- Ensure employee safety and enforce all safety protocols
- Maintain product quality and meet production output targets
- Train, mentor, and develop employees as needed
- Foster a positive, team-oriented, and respectful work environment
- Verify employee qualifications before assigning tasks
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and support decision-making at appropriate levels
- Support plant goals, objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify and implement cost-reduction and process improvement opportunities
- Conduct performance reviews and provide personnel recommendations
- Ensure products meet or exceed customer quality standards
- Participate in meetings related to production and quality systems
- Maintain compliance with ISO standards and FDA regulations
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities as needed
- Coordinate emergency response efforts during assigned shift
- Address employee relations issues and collaborate with HR as needed
