Senior Accountant
Our rapidly growing FinTech company is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role will primarily focus on month-end duties, ensuring accurate financial reporting and analysis, and be a high visibility position working closely with management. Well established in the UK, we are in the process of securing space in the Alpharetta area for our US Headquarters. This could take six months, during which time this role will be 100% remote. After the office is leased and furnished, this role will be a hybrid role working remotely on Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close: Execute all tasks necessary to complete the month-end close process accurately and efficiently.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and corrections as needed to ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform thorough reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, providing variance analysis and explanations for significant fluctuations.
- Accruals and Prepayments: Calculate and record accruals and prepayments to accurately reflect the financial position of the company at month-end.
- Intercompany Transactions: Reconcile intercompany accounts and transactions, ensuring proper elimination and consolidation.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audit requests, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline month-end processes and improve efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA preferred with 5+ year’s experience in corporate or public accounting.
- High growth startup experience a plus.
- Experience with modern AI productivity suite preferred (ex. Claude Cowork).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite (preferred), QuickBooks, Oracle).
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, FRS102 and IFRS principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
