Manufacturing Engineer – Aerostructures Development

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer – Aerostructures Development to support new product quotation, industrialization, and early-phase manufacturing development.

This role bridges Engineering and Manufacturing, translating product definitions into executable, cost-effective processes for complex aerospace structures. The position supports new program bids (RFQs), product development, and sustaining engineering, with a strong focus on cost modeling, time studies, tooling strategy, and industrial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

New Product Development & Quotation

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for RFQs, including Recurring (RC) and Non-Recurring (NRC) costs.
  • Perform Make/Buy analysis to optimize cost, capacity, and risk.
  • Support program bids through manufacturing feasibility and industrial strategy.

Manufacturing & Industrialization

  • Define and validate manufacturing and inspection processes for metallic and composite aerostructures.
  • Develop process plans, manufacturing routings, MBOMs, and work instructions.
  • Establish manufacturing times using time studies and industrial engineering methods.
  • Support tooling concepts, tooling design validation, and tooling cost inputs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Tooling, and Production teams.
  • Review, comment, and approve engineering drawings from a manufacturing perspective.
  • Act as Manufacturing Engineering representative with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Process Optimization & Support

  • Support prototype builds and early production launches.
  • Resolve technical and manufacturing issues during development and production ramp-up.
  • Participate in FMEAs, value analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support AS9100 compliance and manufacturing change board activities.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
  • 8–10+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in aerospace
  • Strong background in aerostructures (metallic and/or composite)
  • Demonstrated experience with new product industrialization and RFQ support
  • Proficiency with CATIA
  • Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred) and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Determinate Assembly (DA)
    • Time computation and industrial planning
    • Tooling and assembly methodologies
    • Inspection planning and MBOM development
