A growing manufacturer is hiring a Human Resources Generalist to join their established team.  As the Human Resources Generalist, you will report to the Plant Manager and act as a true generalist for a multi-shift location.  Daily, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

  • Operate as a true HR generalist, including handling employee relations, orientation, training, hourly and salary hiring, payroll, etc.
  • Supply HR assistance and support for the plant, a multi-shift operation  
  • Support positive employee relation efforts and complete HR investigations as needed
  • Lead and complete recruitment of hourly and salary staffing
  • Answer HR related questions having to do with benefits, the company handbook, etc.  
  • Assist operations staff with PIPs, exit interviews and terminations
  • Complete data entry and HR functions in the HRIS system
  • Participate in recruitment efforts, including participating in interviews and making hiring recommendations  
  • Train on the payroll process for hourly and salary employees, and eventually lead the process 
  • Assist with new hire orientation, including willingness to perform orientation processes
  • Develop and implement plant training topics
  • Partner with the Safety Coordinator to support a safety-focused culture and assist with training 
  • Make any needed changes to the handbook and company policies 
  • Support off-shift production by being flexible and available 
  • Review HR processes and offer recommendations for improvements
  • Other duties as assigned

 

This position has the potential to be hands-on when needed and requires qualified candidates to be comfortable visiting the manufacturing floor when needed.  Individuals should be flexible with their work requirements, foster a team-oriented environment, initiate interdepartmental communication, be patient, have good leadership skills and be willing to evolve in this position. Strong analysis and consultative skills are critical.

REQUIREMENTS for the Human Resources Generalist:

1. A Bachelor's degree is preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required 
2. Depending on education, at least 2-5 years in a similar manufacturing Human Resources Generalist role 
3. Experience with employee relations 
4. Experience supporting non-union workforces 
5. Exposure to payroll processes 
6. Experience recruiting for hourly and/or salary staff 
7. HRIS experience 
8. Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

 

Skills preferred but NOT required:

1. Supervision experience 
2. SHRM Certification 
3. Benefits administration 
4. Manufacturing safety initiatives
