Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting plant control systems, primarily Emerson DeltaV with Rockwell PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and instrumentation. This role ensures reliable automation, process optimization, and safe plant operations while supporting capital projects and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain DeltaV, Rockwell PLC, HMI/SCADA, and instrumentation systems.
• Support control system upgrades, startups, commissioning, loop tuning, alarm management, and optimization.
• Develop and maintain control system standards, documentation, backups, and cybersecurity practices.
• Support automation and controls for capital projects from design through startup.
• Maintain control system documentation, I/O lists, P&IDs, and engineering drawings.
• Manage preventive maintenance and calibration programs using Maximo (or similar CMMS).
• Support plant historians, data collection systems, and reporting.
• Provide technical support and training to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Identify and implement automation improvements that increase reliability, efficiency, and production.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience with industrial instrumentation and control systems.
• Experience with Emerson DeltaV and/or Rockwell PLCs.
• 3+ years working with contractors and project execution.
• Experience with Maximo or another CMMS preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, commissioning, and process automation experience.
