We’re seeking a highly skilled MES & Controls Engineer to support enterprise-level automation and manufacturing intelligence systems. Based in Texas this role is responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Power BI tools across multiple production sites.
This role will collaborate closely with automation engineers, IT, and plant teams to drive MES functionality, enhance data visibility, and integrate new control system solutions that improve plant performance and operational insights.
Role Responsibilities:
Develop, support, and maintain MES solutions using AVEVA/Wonderware ArchestrA, including graphics, scripting, objects, and integration with production data
Configure and enhance MES modules such as Operations, Performance, and Quality
Manage business process logic using AVEVA Work Tasks BPM and support LIMS system workflows
Leverage AVEVA BI Gateway for data aggregation and warehousing
Interface MES layers with PLC controls (Allen-Bradley/ControlLogix) and ensure real-time data availability
Support and manage Power BI platforms (on-prem and cloud) to deliver actionable dashboards and reports
Design and optimize Power BI datasets, data models, DAX measures, and SQL queries
Migrate legacy SSRS and Tableau reports into Power BI ecosystem
Build and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
Collaborate cross-functionally to understand reporting needs, transform plant data, and build custom analytics tools
Maintain documentation, troubleshoot systems, and ensure data integrity and compliance
Required Experience & Skills:
7+ years in controls/automation engineering within FDA-regulated or industrial manufacturing (food, beverage, CPG, or similar)
Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Ethernet/IP networked systems
Advanced HMI development skills in AVEVA/Wonderware ArchestrA System Platform
Working knowledge of object-oriented programming; C# in Microsoft Visual Studio preferred
High proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2019+), SSIS, SSRS, and Excel
Advanced SQL querying and data modeling capabilities
Experience with MES systems and integrating plant floor data into enterprise platforms
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
Ability to work autonomously and lead cross-site initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AVEVA MES or similar platforms
Knowledge of Power BI (Report Server & Power Platform), including DAX, dashboards, and data modeling
Familiarity with Tableau and data visualization best practices
Understanding of data warehouse architecture and ETL concepts
Exposure to .NET development
Power BI certifications or similar credentials
