Position Description
Responsible for directing all aspects of accounting, /administration and operation of a luxury resort and portfolio of diverse business entities in accordance with county regulations; responsible for planning, managing, and supporting the achievement of revenue and income objectives, market share, and customer service objectives; establishes departmental policies and procedures; develops and monitors all departmental budgets to ensure their profitable operation. Conduct in-depth financial and business analysis, managing cost control and revenue strategies, and leveraging data analytics to enhance business performance and overall financial health.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Finance and Accounting team to help move the property’s mission forward -while protecting all Mission/Vision stakeholders.
- Manage the budget process to ensure timely and complete budget by agreed upon due dates.
- Manage the forecast process to ensure timely and accurate forecasts throughout the resort.
- Manage the cash flow requirements through cash flow forecasts and anticipate any required funding in advance.
- Manage and oversee all reporting on a monthly and timely basis including but not limited to:
- a. Balance Sheet reconciliations
- b. Forecasts – 90 days
- c. Income and cash flow statements
- d. Accounts Receivable aging
- e. Accounts Payable and vendor statements
- f. Payroll – federal withholdings, Service charge allocations
- g. Tax requirements, Payroll, sales taxes (county and state)
- Management of assistant Controller’s Checklists.
- Establish internal Audit function and reporting of the results Quarterly.
- Establish and lead Inventory Control Systems.
- Establish and assist leading Purchasing procedures / Turn ratios and days available for major asset categories and compare to standards (Big 4, retail, uniforms, guest supplies, etc.).
- Preparation of Tax requirements and knowledge of county, state taxes and laws with innkeepers, liquor and labor.
- Oversee all pertinent leases, contracts, agreements, covenants, and restrictions and ensure property’s interests are protected.
- Oversee Accounting software to integrate with Property Management System
- a. Maintaining various financial databases and reports.
- b. Evaluating productivity and departmental performance.
- Lead performance reviews and performance management of assistant controller.
- Other duties, as needed/assigned.
Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of solid hotel/hospital experience in a business-related field; minimum 3 years stability in successfully performing operation
- Opening experience is preferrable
- Excellent verbal and written communications, networking, and presentation skills (in English);
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as proficiency in various financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting tools
- Demonstrated ability with constructive, team-centric leadership skills
- Excellent team skills, including but not limited to: listening, coaching, guiding, flexible working, adaptability, collaboration, and facilitation
- Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to: listening, asking questions, building consensus, presenting, obtaining buy-in
Education
BA/BS in accounting or finance
CPA Preferred
