Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile, high-energy Medical Assistant to join our  Float Pool. This is a dynamic role designed for a professional who thrives on variety and enjoys working across different medical specialties and environments.

As a Float Pool MA, you will provide essential clinical and administrative support to various primary care and specialty clinics within our network. You will be the "bridge" that ensures our patient care remains seamless when permanent staff are on leave or during periods of high patient volume. There are also opportunities to stay permanent in one office fulltime when the need arises. 


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Patient Intake: Rooming patients, obtaining vital signs (BP, heart rate, temp), and documenting chief complaints in the EMR.

  • Procedures: Assisting providers with minor office procedures, wound care, and suture removals.

  • Testing: Performing EKGs, point-of-care testing (strep, flu, glucose), and phlebotomy as required.

  • Injections: Administering vaccinations and medications under the direction of a provider.

  • Preparation: Ensuring exam rooms are sanitized, stocked, and ready for each patient encounter.

Administrative Duties:

  • Patient Navigation: Coordinating referrals, prior authorizations, and scheduling follow-up appointments.

  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR).

  • Communication: Managing patient phone calls, relaying test results, and handling prescription refills.


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • Certification: CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) preferred, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience is preferred, but we are willing to train highly motivated new graduates.

  • Mobility: Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, as daily travel to different sites within your assigned county.  

  • Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new workflows and integrate into different team cultures on short notice.

Note: Travel is limited strictly to Genesee County. Shift assignments are typically communicated with as much lead time as possible, though some "same-day" assignments may occur.
