Position Overview

PMC Medical is seeking a skilled and compassionate Ultrasound Technologist / Sonographer to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations. In this role, you will work closely with physicians, manage patient schedules, maintain equipment, and ensure a seamless, patient-focused experience. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety, infection control, and continuous quality improvement standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Imaging: Perform abdominal, chest, pelvic, renal, and other specialized ultrasound examinations as ordered by physicians. Explain procedures to patients clearly and empathetically to ensure comfort and cooperation.

  • Workflow & Scheduling: Manage daily examination schedules, board procedures, and coordinate seamlessly with outpatient departments, referring physicians, and front-office staff.

  • Documentation & PACS Management: Label images accurately, document preliminary findings/diagnoses, confirm delivery to the PACS system, and record patient education in health records.

  • Clinical Communication: Communicate preliminary impressions to referring physicians in the absence of a Radiologist and deliver direct diagnostic updates to attendings as required.

  • Operations & Maintenance: Clean, stock, and set up ultrasound rooms daily. Perform periodic calibration, inspect equipment for proper function, and schedule service/repairs as needed.

  • Education & Mentorship: Instruct medical staff, residents, and students on ultrasound fundamentals, techniques, and procedural planning.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certification: Active registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer via ARDMS required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 1+ year of clinical sonography experience.

  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of human anatomy, physiology, diagnostic ultrasound principles, and radiation safety/infection control guidelines.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with PACS systems, EHR documentation, and routine ultrasound equipment calibration.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication with the ability to deal tactfully, sympathetically, and professionally with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
