Job Summary:
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced emergency setting. The RN assesses patient conditions, administers medications, monitors vital signs, collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and responds quickly to acute and life-threatening situations. The ED RN must be able to handle a high-stress environment while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and compassion.
Key Responsibilities:

Triage patients and determine priority of care based on physical, psychological, and social needs.

Perform rapid assessments and initiate emergency interventions as needed.

Administer medications, IV therapy, and perform procedures as ordered.

Monitor and document patient status, including vital signs, physical condition, and lab results.

Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members.

Provide patient and family education and emotional support.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.

Respond to Code Blue and other emergency situations in the hospital as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Licensure: Current and unrestricted RN license in [State].

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required; TNCC, ENPC, and CEN certification preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of acute care nursing experience preferred; prior emergency nursing experience strongly preferred.
