Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Job Summary:

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced emergency setting. The RN assesses patient conditions, administers medications, monitors vital signs, collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and responds quickly to acute and life-threatening situations. The ED RN must be able to handle a high-stress environment while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Triage patients and determine priority of care based on physical, psychological, and social needs.

• Perform rapid assessments and initiate emergency interventions as needed.

• Administer medications, IV therapy, and perform procedures as ordered.

• Monitor and document patient status, including vital signs, physical condition, and lab results.

• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members.

• Provide patient and family education and emotional support.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.

• Respond to Code Blue and other emergency situations in the hospital as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

• Licensure: Current and unrestricted RN license in [State].

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required; TNCC, ENPC, and CEN certification preferred.

• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of acute care nursing experience preferred; prior emergency nursing experience strongly preferred.

• Must be able to stand for long periods and lift/move patients or equipment.

• Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
