Tool Maker
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and fabrication of tooling throughout the facility to support continuous production operations.
Essential Functions

Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Five or more years of experience fabricating precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and machine components from raw material through final assembly and setup.

Experience servicing and maintaining progressive, piercing, and forming dies using conventional machine tools such as surface grinders, lathes, mills, jig borers, saws, and hand tools.

Ability to troubleshoot die performance in press operations and make adjustments to tooling and press settings (including stamps, cutting, and forming details) to produce parts to specification.

Ability to verify, adjust, and document die timing, service activities, and modifications.

Ability to perform layout work and create or interpret prints, sketches, models, and specifications to plan and execute proper fabrication sequences.

Proficiency using precision measurement tools including gauge blocks, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and related inspection equipment to verify dimensions, alignment, and clearances.

Working knowledge of material selection, grades, heat treatments, and surface coatings appropriate for specific applications.

Demonstrated initiative and creativity, with the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines and accommodate non-standard work hours when required.

Ability to work collaboratively with salaried and hourly personnel as well as external contractors while maintaining strong working relationships.
Fit for Duty Requirements

Ability to stand, sit, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and use hands for handling and manipulation throughout the workday.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with coordination and manual dexterity.

Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces in, above, or beneath machines and equipment.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment including gloves, respiratory protection, aprons, safety glasses, and steel-toed footwear (provided).

Ability to safely work with solvents, industrial chemicals, and lubricants used in tooling and die service.
General Responsibilities

Utilize a work order and documentation system to log and track completed work.

Conduct technical research and diagnostics to resolve tooling or process issues.
-
Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment including cranes, hoists, and pallet jacks.

Participate in ongoing technical training as required.

Demonstrate accountability, task ownership, and adherence to company policies and safety procedures.
