Quality Inspector / CMM Inspector

Pay Range: $25–$30 per hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

A precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector / CMM Inspector to support machining operations. This role is responsible for performing dimensional inspections on machined components, ensuring conformance to engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on CMM experience and a strong background in precision measurement within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision machined parts

• Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions and tolerances

• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications

• Use precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and comparators

• Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records

• Identify nonconforming parts and collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams on corrective actions

• Support continuous improvement efforts related to quality and inspection processes

• Ensure compliance with ISO and internal quality system requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of quality inspection experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment

• Proven hands-on experience operating CMM equipment

• Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading

• Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems preferred

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Preferred Skills

• Experience inspecting CNC machined parts (mills and/or lathes)

• Knowledge of aerospace, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing standards

• Experience with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar

• Ability to communicate effectively with machinists, engineers, and management
