The Machinist A – CNC Milling is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision parts within required tolerances and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

CNC Programming & Machine Operation (80%)

  • Write and modify CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks).
  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines per blueprints and specifications.
  • Design and build fixtures for machining operations.
  • Select and secure tools, fixtures, and materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.
  • Monitor machining processes, adjust settings, and inspect finished parts for accuracy.

Safety & Maintenance (10%)

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area organized.
  • Follow safety procedures, including proper machine operation and material handling.

Reporting & Miscellaneous (10%)

  • Maintain production reports and quality records.
  • Participate in training and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing/Technical Programming OR completion of an apprenticeship OR company training.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a qualified machinist.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in CNC programming, setup, and operation.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprints, GD&T, and machining processes.
  • Experience with Mastercam, SolidWorks, and inspection tools.
  • Strong math skills (algebra, geometry, trigonometry).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong time management and communication skills.
