In this role, you will lead a project team responsible for producing site civil designs for large, complex sites related to water and wastewater projects. You’ll be involved in site layouts, yard piping design, terrain modeling, stormwater calculations, coordination with other disciplines, and quality reviews. Additionally, you will travel occasionally for business development purposes or when a project requires a site assessment or construction support.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of site civil designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Oversee the design of complex treatment plant yard piping systems and coordinate with other utilities.
  • Manage the design of site paving, access, fencing, and other ancillary infrastructure for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Lead the design of grading and stormwater drainage plans, including pre and post terrain modeling.
  • Prepare calculations for stormwater detention and conveyance design.
  • Develop detailed plans and specifications for water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Coordinate floodplain permits and determine base flood elevations.
  • Supervise the creation of Civil 3D drawings.
  • Work with surveyors and geotechnical subconsultants.
  • Provide support for construction projects.
  • Assist regional teams with water and wastewater-related business development.
  • Develop project scope, schedule, effort, and fees.
  • Manage a team, ensuring coordination, monitoring of budgets, and delivery of quality work products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of civil site design experience, including at least two years of project or team leadership.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure.
  • Extensive knowledge of piping materials, flow characteristics, and bedding requirements.
  • Proficiency in grading and drainage plan design.
  • Experience with Autodesk software (AutoCAD and Civil 3D).
  • Strong collaboration experience with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., process, structural, mechanical, electrical).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • 15+ years of civil engineering design experience, with 5+ years in leadership.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification.
  • Experience with Bluebeam software.
  • Existing client relationships within the industry.
  • Familiarity with stormwater conveyance software (HEC-RAS/HMS).
  • Active participation in local professional organizations.
