Job Title: Technologist, Product Development – (Research & Development)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 60% in-office, based on business needs) with up to 30% travel
As a Technologist in Product Development, you will apply your scientific or engineering expertise to drive innovation in pet food. This hands-on role involves designing, formulating, testing, and scaling products that meet consumer needs while ensuring nutritional, functional, and operational excellence. You’ll collaborate across disciplines and translate research into products that deliver real value for pets and their owners.
Design and develop products aligned with consumer insights, product briefs, and learning plans under the guidance of a manager.
Formulate products to meet ingredient functionality, nutritional requirements, consumer needs, claims substantiation, operational feasibility, and financial targets.
Conduct experiments ranging from rapid prototyping to benchtop, pilot plant, and full-scale production trials.
Analyze and interpret data from process trials, chemical/physical testing, feeding and storage studies, and statistical analysis—drawing clear conclusions and recommendations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams internally and externally, sharing insights and building integrated solutions.
Prepare and maintain documentation, including ingredient and finished product specifications, reports, project updates, data analyses, and lab notebooks.
Communicate technical data effectively through written reports, presentations, and discussions with R&D and business partners.
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, or Engineering.
Knowledge and expertise in your field of study.
Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Ability to follow and adhere to established procedures.
Commitment to quality and safety.
Prior experience in food and/or pet food product development.
Familiarity with food processing methods such as extrusion, thermal processing, or baking.
Hands-on formulation experience.
Coursework or background in nutrition.
Proven ability to acquire advanced knowledge and technical skills.
Comfortable working under moderate supervision while following established processes and guidelines.
