The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Tax Manager to lead the company’s tax function. This role will primarily focus on federal and state income tax compliance, provision, and planning for a U.S.-based operating entity.
You’ll partner closely with the CFO, Finance, and external advisors to ensure compliance, drive tax efficiency, and support business decisions tied to capital investment and growth initiatives.
This is a visible role requiring both strong technical tax skills and a practical, business-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead federal and state income tax compliance and filings for a U.S.-based entity
- Manage and review income tax provisions (ASC 740) and quarterly/annual reporting
- Prepare and manage quarterly estimated tax payments and support tax-related cash flow forecasting
- Review financial statements to ensure accurate reporting of taxable income and tax positions
- Manage tax audits and resolve issues with federal and state taxing authorities
- Monitor and interpret changes in tax regulations and assess impact to the business
- Partner with Finance and Operations on tax implications of CapEx investments and business decisions
- Support M&A activity, including tax due diligence and integration as needed
- Lead tax planning strategies to reduce effective tax rate and optimize cash flow
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and consultants
- Drive process improvements and efficiencies across tax reporting and compliance
Additional Scope
- Sales and use tax compliance is outsourced, with oversight and coordination responsibilities internally
- Property tax and other indirect tax matters supported through external partners as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- 6–10+ years of progressive tax experience (public + industry preferred)
- Strong experience with income tax provision (ASC 740) and corporate tax compliance
- Experience working with external advisors and managing audit processes
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments preferred
- Understanding of fixed assets / CapEx and related tax implications
- Experience in private equity-backed or growth-oriented environments is a plus
- Tax software experience helpful but no specific system required
