This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and analyzing electronic products returned from customer facilities. The role also supports continuous improvement efforts through root-cause analysis, test system development, and collaboration with product development teams, while mentoring less experienced technicians.
Duties:
Including but not limited to:
- Troubleshoot failures and perform root-cause analysis on returned electronic products.
- Perform component-level repairs on returned devices.
- Collect repair data and maintain an accurate repair database.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians.
- Assist with the design, construction, and maintenance of test fixtures and systems, including hardware, software, and mechanical components.
- Support the development and documentation of troubleshooting protocols.
- Provide feedback to product development teams for design improvements and enhancements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, completion of military electronics training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in component-level troubleshooting and repair of electronic products.
- Experience soldering both fine-pitch SMT and through-hole PCB assemblies.
- Experience working with microprocessor- and microcontroller-based products.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing analog circuits.
- Experience with switching power supplies preferred.
- Experience developing automated test systems preferred.
- IPC soldering certification (IPC-J-STD-001 and/or IPC 7711/7721) preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits to the component level using schematics and test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Ability to solder both through-hole and fine-pitch surface mount components.
- Working knowledge of lab safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to mentor junior technicians.
- Basic proficiency in MS Windows and MS Office.
