Position Summary
The Systems Engineer documents, develops, designs, builds, tests, programs and configures automated control systems and software solutions to support customer and internal projects. System Engineer utilizes project experience in SCADA and PLC development, system design and industrial processes to deliver completed systems. Skills utilized, processes and technologies change with project requirements.
The Systems Engineer works under the direction of Senior Systems Engineers and Project Managers. This is a mid-level position. Typical career progression is Systems Engineer > Senior Systems Engineer > System Architect.
Responsibilities
Maintain proficiency in assigned technologies and use them to complete projects
Maintain/obtain certification in core technology stacks
Learn processes and technologies quickly and in depth, apply knowledge to benefit the company
Qualifications
Experience working with integrated processes, electrical control systems, SCADA, PLCs, software
Experience developing applications using Rockwell Studio Designer 5000, Inductive Automation Ignition,
Aveva/Wonderware InTouch/System Platform, EcoStruxure Machine Expert, Rockwell FactoryTalk View Site/Machine Edition, Maple Systems EBPro, or some combination thereof.
Ability to install, start-up, operate and troubleshoot motor controls, instrumentation, relay logic
Demonstrated ability to reason and apply critical thinking
Computer and Ethernet networking proficiency
Ability to lift to 50 lbs., stand, sit, crouch or lay for extended periods
Possess and maintain valid driver's license and other identification as required
Work Environment
Systems Engineer will work in conditioned office spaces for development tasks. Project requirements solicitation, installation, build, and test activities will require work in panel build shop and at customer sites. Sites include the interior of industrial freezers, the basements of wastewater plants, steam system enclosures, chemical storage facilities, outdoors under the sun, and a myriad of other uncomfortable but thankfully temporary accommodations.

The company is a system integrator and panel builder in West Michigan with offices in Allegan on the Kalamazoo River. We design, build and install manual and automated control systems for industrial processes.
