Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Divisional General Superintendent to lead all field operations for the Underground Wet Utilities Division. This senior leadership position oversees multiple concurrent projects—including water, sewer, storm drain, and fire line installations—ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery across all phases of construction.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on leader with deep expertise in large-scale wet utility field operations, proven ability to mentor teams, and strong operational management skills. This role serves as the bridge between field and executive leadership, driving performance, consistency, and accountability across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Project Execution

Direct and oversee daily field operations for multiple underground wet utility projects.

Manage and coordinate Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews to align with company objectives, schedules, and client expectations.

Ensure work is executed safely, on time, within budget, and meets the company’s quality standards.

Collaborate with project teams to review plans, specifications, and constructability for accuracy and efficiency.

Support Superintendents with manpower planning, material coordination, and equipment logistics.

Develop and manage long-term (30-week) and short-term (3- and 6-week) construction schedules.

Identify and resolve field challenges proactively while ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop Superintendents, Foremen, and crews to strengthen field capabilities.

Oversee onboarding, safety, and continuous training programs for field staff.

Conduct regular coordination meetings and one-on-one performance evaluations.

Support recruitment, succession planning, and performance management efforts.

Collaborate with executive leadership (General Manager, Director/VP of Construction) to align operational priorities with company growth objectives.
Safety, Risk & Compliance

Champion a safety-first culture across all projects and teams.

Partner with the Safety Department for audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives.

Ensure strict adherence to OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and company safety policies.

Promote organized, hazard-free job sites and ensure swift response to incidents or near misses.
Equipment & Resource Management

Oversee allocation and maintenance of all company equipment, tools, and materials.

Coordinate with Equipment and Fleet Management for repairs, inspections, and utilization tracking.

Monitor field productivity, resource allocation, and crew efficiency across all active projects.
Communication & Reporting

Serve as the primary communication link between field operations and office leadership.

Provide timely updates on project progress, productivity, challenges, and field conditions.

Ensure accurate completion of daily reports, timecards, and logs via construction management software.

Maintain strong communication with clients, project managers, and key stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance consistency and operational efficiency.

Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory updates.

Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning among field teams.
Qualifications

Minimum 10+ years of experience in underground wet utility construction (water, sewer, storm drain, fire line).

Minimum 5+ years in a senior field leadership or multi-project supervisory role.

Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously and lead diverse field teams.

Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.

Proficiency with construction scheduling and field management software.

Solid understanding of OSHA standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance (OSHA 30 preferred).

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.

Experience working with both union and non-union workforces is a plus.
Physical Requirements

Full mobility in upper and lower body; able to stand, kneel, or squat for extended periods.

Capable of lifting or moving up to 25 lbs occasionally.

Ability to travel between job sites as needed.
