Job Description
The Supervisor Production Operations supervises and coordinates manufacturing team activities to safely and efficiently produce and ship high-quality products that meet all customer requirements. This working-supervisor role focuses on leadership, continuous improvement, safety compliance, quality, and meeting production schedules.
Core Responsibilities
· Inspire trust and respect while providing leadership, guidance, and direction to achieve team goals.
· Take responsibility for team performance and resolve issues promptly.
· Determine work procedures, prepare schedules, and expedite workflow.
· Maintain a strong understanding of production-planning systems.
· Supervise and support quality procedures, including inspection documentation, engineering deviations, and training on quality programs.
· Create and enforce safety rules and conduct monthly department safety inspections.
· Perform or assist with hands-on production duties as needed.
· Develop process plans covering people, resources, equipment, and floor layout for each customer order.
· Coordinate with planning teams to meet shipment dates and adjust staffing, including overtime, to meet demand.
· Recommend and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
· Initiate and sustain 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and other continuous-improvement programs.
· Drive cross-training to increase workforce versatility.
· Analyze and resolve work problems while fostering a positive team environment.
· Ensure accuracy of inputs from engineering, sales, and manufacturing so final products meet expectations.
· Communicate changes effectively and support organizational goals and values.
Required Qualifications
· Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
· Experience working in an ISO-certified quality environment.
· Prior manufacturing supervision experience.
· Experience creating written procedures and instructions.
· Ability to actively resolve customer product issues.
· Production and inventory scheduling experience.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook; SAP experience is a plus.
· Safety-compliance knowledge; OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is a plus.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong personnel and leadership skills.
· Willingness to take on added responsibility, run departmental meetings, and commit the time needed to achieve goals.
· Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, climb, stoop, and work around moving mechanical parts, fumes, and vibration.
· Availability for second-shift operations.
