Mechanical Project Engineer
Compensation : $85,000 - $120,000 + 10% Bonus + Paid Relocation
The Project Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing equipment and process improvement projects at our client's South Columbus, OH facility. This includes both new equipment installations and upgrades to existing systems.
In this role, you will work closely with contractors, operations, maintenance teams, vendors, purchasing, and EHS to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
A key focus of the position is mechanical controls engineering, integrating mechanical equipment with automation, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure reliable and safe plant operations.
Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design and mechanical-controls integration for plant projects

Select equipment, develop system layouts, and support system integration

Define project scope, obtain bids, and oversee contractor work

Manage project schedules, budgets, and spending

Coordinate plant outages and support equipment start-up

Communicate project plans with both technical and non-technical teams

Develop training and operating procedures related to new systems
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field

5+ years of capital project engineering experience (chemical or manufacturing environment preferred)

Experience integrating mechanical systems with automation or controls

Strong problem-solving and project management skills
