Role Overview

The ServiceNow Platform Architect is responsible for the design, governance, and technical direction of the ServiceNow platform across the enterprise. This role defines platform standards, solution design practices, integration patterns, and development guidelines to ensure ServiceNow solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.

This position serves as the primary technical lead for ServiceNow implementations, enhancements, integrations, and roadmap planning. The role partners with business stakeholders, IT teams, developers, administrators, and third-party vendors to deliver consistent, well-governed ServiceNow solutions across modules such as ITSM, HRSD, Employee Center, CMDB, Integration Hub, App Engine, and SPM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain ServiceNow platform architecture, standards, and governance practices.
  • Lead solution design for ServiceNow implementations, enhancements, and integrations.
  • Establish development standards for configuration, workflows, scripting, testing, security, and technical documentation.
  • Provide architectural review and technical guidance to ServiceNow administrators, developers, project teams, and vendors.
  • Define and support integration patterns using ServiceNow Integration Hub, APIs, middleware, and approved enterprise tools.
  • Govern custom application development, reusable components, and shared platform services.
  • Support platform roadmap planning, module evaluation, upgrade readiness, and long-term platform health.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable ServiceNow solutions and communicate technical recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Review vendor-delivered work against technical standards and ensure proper documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in enterprise platform architecture, solution design, or related IT roles.
  • 3+ years of hands-on ServiceNow architecture, development, administration, or senior technical design experience.
  • Experience supporting ServiceNow across multiple modules.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow configuration, workflows, security, data models, integrations, and governance.
  • Experience defining technical standards and guiding internal teams or third-party vendors.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or equivalent hands-on experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow CTA, CAD, CIS-ITSM, or related certifications.
  • Experience with ITSM, HRSD, Employee Center, CMDB, CSDM, Integration Hub, App Engine, or SPM.
  • Experience with APIs, middleware, enterprise integrations, or event-driven architecture.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, agile delivery, enterprise architecture, and regulated enterprise environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, CSDM, RBAC, Flow Designer, GlideScript, CMDB, scoped applications, and upgrade best practices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable ServiceNow solutions.
  • Strong documentation skills, including process flows, data models, integration specs, and architecture diagrams.
  • Ability to enforce standards across internal teams and vendors.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with source control, CI/CD concepts, and automated testing.
