Real-Time Risk Software Engineer (Lead, Senior, Mid-Level) - Charlotte

Are you a highly motivated Software Engineer with a passion for building innovative, high-performance systems in the financial industry? We're launching a greenfield initiative to create a foundational data hub within Capital Markets Technology, and we need your expertise to drive our real-time risk stream. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of risk reporting, analytics, and business intelligence at our bank.

You'll be a core contributor to a proactive and expanding team of Software Engineers, Solution Architects, and Product Owners, focused on delivering an event-driven data streaming platform that will revolutionize how we capture, process, and report on risk. This role involves significant hands-on coding to build these capabilities from the ground up.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and develop the core components of our real-time risk data hub, focusing on robust and scalable solutions.
  • Integrate trading systems and reference data to generate near real-time P&L and risk insights.
  • Leverage cutting-edge technologies like Kafka and other event-driven messaging platforms to build seamless, high-reliability, and high-performance data pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with quant and strat teams to implement sophisticated risk computations, including greeks (delta, gamma, vega, correlations).
  • Contribute to technical design, analysis, and support of the entire foundational data hub.
  • For Lead and Senior roles: Lead technical discussions and mentor junior team members as our team grows.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong Java development experience is essential.
  • Expertise in real-time messaging platforms like Kafka is a must-have.
  • Deep domain expertise in financial instruments across one or more of the following: Fixed Income, Interest Rate, Credit, FX, Loans, and/or Equity Derivatives.
  • Solid understanding of trading P&L and risk sensitivities, including option greeks.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and fault tolerance principles.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Highly Valued Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Experience integrating Kafka with trading systems, managing high-volume, low-latency data streams.
  • Hands-on experience with vendor trading systems (e.g., Calypso, Imagine, ION / Wall St Systems, Bloomberg, LoanIQ).
  • Experience with or understanding of platforms such as SecDB, Athena, Quartz, Vasara, or Beacon.
  • Proficiency in Apache Flink for stream processing and real-time data analytics.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.

Ready to make a significant impact on critical financial systems? We're building something truly foundational, and your contributions will directly influence our ability to make data-driven decisions in real-time. Join us in Charlotte!
