Senior Estimator/ Lead Construction Estimator | Southtowns

You’re the one who catches what the scope letter left out. This is the seat where that judgment becomes the house standard.

A manufacturer of architectural building materials and custom panel systems needs a Senior Estimator to own bid accuracy and the process behind it along with mentoring juniors. The work is complex geometry and custom fabrication, where a tolerance call or an unclear exclusion decides whether there’s margin in the job. You’d build the bid, defend it in review, and stay close to engineering and fabrication while the price is still being shaped.

Why this role stands out

  • Your takeoffs drive project decisions: this is the front of the process, not the end of it
  • Specification-driven product that demands real engagement with drawings, not unit-cost lookups
  • Team leadership without coming off the board: you still estimate the projects that matter most
  • A system to build, moving estimating onto connected Bluebeam, Excel, and Salesforce rather than patching what exists
  • Direct contact with architects and GCs, early enough that your scope questions get answered before they turn into change orders

What you’ll be doing

  • Build bids from material, tooling, labor, waste, freight, install support, and contingency — and defend the numbers in review
  • Lead pricing on custom and complex geometry, working with engineering and fabrication on tooling, repeatability, and attachment systems
  • Perform detailed takeoffs for custom commercial building materials
  • Write and maintain scope qualifications and exclusions by risk category, so every bid states what’s in and what’s out
  • Mentor junior estimators and standardize templates, Bluebeam tools, and formulas across the team
  • Coordinate with Sales and Project Management on high-value opportunities

About you

  • 6+ years in construction estimating, or a construction management background with time in a lead or senior estimating seat
  • Strong takeoffs from architectural drawings, with fluency in Bluebeam Revu
  • Manufacturing, fabrication, or installation background, so your estimates reflect how product actually gets made and set
  • Comfortable running several bids at once against hard deadlines
  • Degree or certification in construction management, architecture, or engineering, or the equivalent in experience
