Job Summary

A commercial construction organization is seeking a Pre-Construction Estimator to support early-stage project budgeting and pre-construction planning. This role is suited for someone who is analytical, curious, and comfortable working with incomplete information to identify costs, risks, and project considerations.

The position focuses on developing preliminary budgets from limited project information, analyzing site conditions, performing takeoffs, and using Excel-based estimating models. Construction experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary construction budgets from site plans, drawings, and early-stage project information.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and enter project assumptions into Excel-based estimating models.
• Review site plans and available project information to identify unusual conditions, risks, and potential cost impacts.
• Analyze how changes in project scope or assumptions affect overall costs.
• Prepare written summaries outlining budget assumptions, observations, and risks.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams as projects progress.
• Manage multiple active estimates and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Support client and design-team discussions as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to read or learn to read technical drawings and site plans.
• Strong attention to detail and investigative thinking.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and short turnaround times.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in construction, engineering, estimating, cost analysis, feasibility, or modeling is helpful but not required.
• College degree not required.
