Public Affairs Representative

Overview
The Public Affairs Representative supports community outreach, public engagement, and communications initiatives for a large, mission-driven organization. This role focuses on building strong relationships with community partners, supporting workforce and career education outreach, and delivering clear, compelling public-facing communications. The position combines writing, project coordination, public speaking, and frequent engagement at community events.
This is a hybrid role that includes regular in-office collaboration and significant local travel to outreach events.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, write, and edit public-facing communications, including articles, talking points, and outreach materials for internal and external audiences

Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, educational institutions, workforce partners, and local government entities

Organize and participate in community workshops, job fairs, cultural events, and outreach programs

Prepare and deliver presentations to community leaders, educators, students, and civic groups

Coordinate outreach initiatives in collaboration with internal teams and external partners

Support program management activities, including tracking inquiries, updating outreach tools or applications, and coordinating vendor or partner communications

Assist with internship and youth engagement programs in partnership with local schools

Manage multiple outreach and communications projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least four years of relevant public affairs, communications, or outreach experience
OR -
Master’s degree in a related field with at least two years of relevant experience

Prior experience in a public affairs, community outreach, or communications role preferred

Strong public speaking and presentation skills

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Experience with community outreach, public engagement, or workforce education initiatives

Ability to build rapport with diverse audiences and stakeholders

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Comfortable managing multiple projects and working in fast-paced environments
