My client is seeking a Senior Scientist to join their team and lend expertise in cell-free protein expression in bacterial systems.
My client offers the independence, resources, and collaborative environment needed to drive innovative research.
The ideal candidate will take on the following tasks:
· Design, execute, optimize, and troubleshoot bacterial cell-free protein expression for a diverse range of target proteins.
· Optimize extract preparation methods to maximize protein yield and activity.
· Develop and apply high-throughput screening approaches to evaluate expression constructs, chaperone combinations, and reaction conditions.
· Characterize expressed proteins for yield, purity, solubility, folding, and functional activity using SDS-PAGE, capillary electrophoresis, ELISA, and related analytical techniques.
· Maintain detailed lab notebooks and contribute to internal reports, SOPs, and patent disclosures.
· Stay current with advances in cell-free protein synthesis literature and evaluate new methods, vendors, and platforms.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
· PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Protein Science, or related.
· Demonstrated hands-on expertise in bacterial cell-free protein synthesis including optimization and troubleshooting.
· Strong working knowledge of E. coli molecular biology, protein expression, and extract preparation.
· Proficiency in standard protein analytical techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, capillary electrophoresis).
· Experience with high-throughput and automated screening platforms.
· Proven ability to lead scientific projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
My client offers a base salary of $115k-135k plus bonus and relocation.
For candidates without post-PhD experience, the title will be Scientist level.
