Director, Product Management - Research Platforms

My client is expanding and seeks a Director of Product Management.

The ideal candidate will own P&L, drive commercialization, and serve as strategic voice of the customer in the life sciences research market.

This person will take on the following key responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership 

• Define product strategy, roadmap, and business cases for instruments and software portfolio
• Own P&L with accountability for revenue and growth targets
• Lead voice of customer research and market intelligence
• Build and mentor product management team

Product Development 

• Collaborate with R&D and Engineering to define product requirements and specifications
• Drive hardware-software integration and user experience excellence
• Define technical roadmaps and address cybersecurity for connected platforms
• Experience with optical detection systems, fluidics, or laboratory automation preferred

Commercial Execution 

• Develop positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategies
• Drive product launches, sales enablement, and competitive analysis
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Field teams on customer engagement
• Manage regulatory compliance (FDA, CE, ISO 13485)

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Life Sciences, advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years in product management for life sciences capital equipment/software
• 5+ years people management experience
• Proven P&L ownership and successful product launches
• Deep understanding of analytical instruments and laboratory software
• Strong strategic planning, financial modeling, and communication skills
• Travel 20-25%
