Director of Scientific Affairs, Neurodegeneration

My client is expanding into a new area of biomarker technology and seeks a Director of Scientific Affairs focused on neuroscience and neurodegeneration. This is a scientific role with a commercial mindset.

The ideal candidate will take on the following responsibilities:

• Build relationships with KOLs and decision makers in Alzheimer's disease, ALS, and other neurodegenerative diseases across academia, industry, and government.
• Identify unmet biomarker needs, and show where the technology can advance diagnosis, patient stratification, and treatment monitoring.
• Collaborate with customers, sales teams, and field application scientists to identify opportunities and develop creative solutions.
• Drive scientific partnerships that lead to published papers.
• Bring insights from the field to R&D and product managers to help shape the product roadmap.
• Serve as a scientific spokesperson at conferences, and create and deliver webinars, blogs, and presentations.
• Stay current on scientific and competitive developments, and share expertise across the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

• PhD, MD, or PharmD with deep expertise in neurodegeneration research.
• Strong understanding of protein detection assays, their development, and their applications.
• Familiarity with the drug discovery and development process.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex science clear in any format.
• Business acumen, with a talent for building relationships and negotiating well.
• Creative, collaborative, and self-motivated, with a track record of taking initiative.
• High standards, close attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
• A professional, diplomatic presence with colleagues and external partners at every level.

This role is also open to exceptional early-career candidates, including postdocs.

This position is remote and can be based anywhere in the US or Europe, with regular travel including some overnight stays.
