Job Title: Project Controls Analyst

Location: On-Site
Shift Hours: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM


About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and financially driven Project Controls Analyst to support long-term, complex projects across fixed-price and hybrid contract environments.

This position plays a critical role in protecting project margins, identifying risks early, and supporting executive-level decision-making throughout the full project lifecycle.

You will partner closely with Project Management and Finance to ensure cost discipline, forecasting accuracy, and commercial compliance while driving execution excellence across multiple projects.


Key Responsibilities

Cost & Margin Control

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete analyses

  • Track actual costs vs. budget and proactively identify margin erosion risks

  • Support earned value analysis and monthly WIP adjustments at the project level

  • Monitor labor productivity, subcontractor performance, and material cost trends

Contract & Commercial Management

  • Support contract setup and ongoing commercial administration

  • Track change orders, scope growth, claims, and commercial recoveries

  • Monitor contingency usage, risk transfer exposure, and liquidated damages risk

Bonding, Insurance & Permitting Compliance

  • Coordinate payment and performance bond issuance and underwriting documentation

  • Track bond requirements, renewals, and releases per contract milestones

  • Manage Certificates of Insurance (COIs) ensuring coverage limits and endorsements meet requirements

  • Track and support procurement of required permits, licenses, and approvals

  • Maintain compliance tracking tied to bonding, insurance, and regulatory obligations

Forecasting & Executive Reporting

  • Prepare monthly forecasts, cash flow projections, and margin outlooks

  • Develop concise reporting for senior leadership and project teams

  • Provide scenario analysis for cost overruns, schedule delays, and recovery plans

Schedule & Performance Integration

  • Integrate cost and schedule data to support project controls visibility

  • Identify early warning indicators related to schedule slippage and productivity loss

  • Support mitigation planning with Project Managers and leadership

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, and Accounting

  • Support internal project reviews, audits, and risk committees

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project controls tools and systems


Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

  • 3–7+ years of experience in project controls, cost control, or project financial management

  • Direct experience supporting design-build projects

  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills

  • Experience with ERP and project systems (Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct, or similar preferred)

  • Solid understanding of cost forecasting, earned value, and margin management

  • Experience working within fixed-price or lump-sum EPC contracts

  • Exposure to claims management, change orders, and commercial negotiations

  • Experience in energy, industrial, infrastructure, or large commercial projects (baggage/material handling a plus)

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to exercise sound judgment

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism
