Position Overview
The Tax Manager will lead all aspects of corporate tax strategy, compliance, and planning across a multi-entity, multi-state manufacturing platform. This individual will partner closely with Finance leadership, Operations, and external advisors to ensure tax efficiency, compliance, and alignment with business objectives.
This is a highly visible role with exposure to executive leadership, private equity stakeholders, and strategic initiatives including acquisitions, restructuring, and capital investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead federal, state, and local tax compliance across a complex multi-entity structure (manufacturing + project-based revenue streams)
- Manage and review income tax provisions (ASC 740) and quarterly/annual reporting
- Oversee sales & use tax, property tax, and multi-state nexus compliance, particularly across manufacturing plants and job sites
- Partner with Operations and Finance on tax implications of CapEx investments, plant expansions, and supply chain decisions
- Support M&A activity, including tax due diligence, structuring, and post-acquisition integration
- Optimize tax planning strategies to reduce effective tax rate and improve cash flow
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities
- Drive process improvements and automation across tax reporting and compliance functions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance; CPA required (or MST preferred)
- 6–10+ years of progressive tax experience (public accounting + industry preferred)
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of multi-state taxation, sales/use tax, and fixed asset/CapEx tax treatment
- Familiarity with project-based accounting, percentage-of-completion, or contract revenue is a plus
- Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth environments highly desirable
- Systems exposure (SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP) preferred
