The Quality Management Systems (QMS) Auditor evaluates conformity of the organization’s QMS with IATF 16949:2016 (and applicable standards), internal procedures, and customer-specific requirements. You will plan, perform, and report on internal and supplier audits, drive CAPA-based improvements, and help ensure ongoing readiness for certification, surveillance, and customer audits.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct internal QMS audits and supplier audits in alignment with risk-based thinking and audit plans.
- Develop audit checklists based on IATF 16949, customer requirements, process maps, and past performance data.
- Assess compliance with QMS requirements, automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC), and relevant customer-specific requirements.
- Identify nonconformities (NCs), perform root cause analyses, and determine appropriate corrective actions (CAPA) with clear due dates.
- Verify effectiveness of corrective actions through follow-up audits and objective evidence review.
- Document audit findings concisely, present results to process owners and management, and track closure of actions.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce process variation, waste, and risk.
- Train and coach internal auditors; contribute to the development and maintenance of the QMS audit program.
- Stay current on changes to IATF 16949, industry best practices, and customer expectations; support certification and surveillance activities.
- Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure a robust quality culture across sites.
- Ensure compliance with ethics, confidentiality, and health/safety standards during audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in quality management systems and auditing within automotive or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949:2016, ISO 9001, and automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
- Proven experience planning and conducting internal audits and supplier audits; ability to manage audit programs.
