Crew Lead - Commercial Solar Installation
Our client is a well-established, mid-sized commercial electrical contractor serving Connecticut for over 20 years. They specialize in commercial, institutional, and industrial electrical work, including multi-residential housing, healthcare facilities, retail, educational institutions, and large-scale commercial projects. They are seeking an experienced Commercial Solar Crew Lead to oversee installation teams on commercial solar projects throughout the state.
Job Summary:
The Commercial Solar Crew Lead is responsible for leading a crew of 5–10 installers on large commercial solar installations. This role oversees daily field operations including racking and PV module installation, safety compliance, productivity tracking, and quality control. The ideal candidate has strong commercial solar experience and can manage crews while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a commercial solar installation crew of 5–10 team members
- Install solar racking systems, PV modules, and related equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, layout drawings, and project plans
- Ensure all OSHA and company safety protocols are followed at all times
- Monitor daily productivity and quality standards
- Track project progress and communicate updates to project management
- Train and mentor new installers to support team development
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Travel to commercial project sites throughout Connecticut
Requirements:
- 2+ years Commercial Solar Installation experience required (Residential-only solar experience will not be considered)
- 2+ years Supervisor/Crew Lead experience (in other trades may be considered)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Ability to work at heights and lift 50+ pounds
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to travel statewide within Connecticut
