Sr. Electrical Engineer
The Sr. Electrical Engineer position requires a highly motivated, detailed individual who is self-directed and able to professionally engage effectively with co-workers, vendors, and customers. This candidate shall have a strong working knowledge and experience with MV, LV, and UPS electrical equipment along with power distribution solutions that are applied in the Energy Markets and other diversified industries that we are targeting.

Key Responsibilities / Expectations:
- Have a complete understanding of facility requirements including one-line diagrams, area classifications, interconnect wiring diagrams, plans, details and cable schedules
- Experience with the sizing, specification, and selection of MV and LV electrical equipment, integration, and layout of motor control center (MCC) and PDC buildings
- Ability to engineer, design, and specify MV and LV electrical equipment that includes MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, soft-starts, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and transformers in PDC building applications for power systems associated with process facilities that meets, or exceeds the customers’ expectations
- Experience with synchronous motors and solutions to controlling in-rush current
- Responsible for developing content and quality of electrical designs on projects including integrated MCC buildings
- Familiarity with applicable codes such as NFPA 70, 70E, 497, AGA XF0277, API RP 500, ect
- Experienced with the review and design of NEC and IEC requirements
- Review of customer/vendor/EPC drawings and incorporate into the project design accordingly
- Perform power system studies including short circuit, arc-flash and protective device coordination. This may include on-site data collection for all electrical equipment at the customer’s facility
- Understand basics for SELs, GE Multilin, and Beckwith protective relays and how each is applied
- Ability to interpret and develop electrical MV and LV one-line diagrams, load lists, hazardous area plans, wiring diagrams, schematics, electrical specifications, data sheets, and calculations
- Able to perform arc-flash and advanced electrical studies using ETAP or SKM software along with presenting to client
- Perform cost-benefit analysis for completing and providing electrical solutions resulting in robust, cost-effective designs
- Responsible for reviewing and checking detailed design drawings, documents and RFQ packages prior to equipment procurement in order to ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness of design packages
- Capable of assessing existing power systems and proposing modifications to correct deficiencies
- Responsible for reporting on work progress and provide input to the Project Execution Plan
- Solicit vendor quotes for MV/LV and UPS electrical equipment from vendors in order to support the procurement and proposal development tasks
- Support business development and proposal efforts by providing technical details, pricing, and other information required
- Work independently and perform all tasks with minimal supervision
- Maintain (or capable of obtaining) Professional Engineer License and Certifications
Qualifications & Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with ten (10) years minimum of experience in MV and LV power distribution systems associated with process facilities in the Energy markets is required
- Professional Engineer’s License in Texas
- Training in NEC, IEC and other electrical codes and regulations applicable to projects
- Experience analyzing and designing power and control circuits, including MCC, switchgear, VFDs, UPS hardware, power transformers, distribution panels, and transfer switches
- Protection relay experience preferred
- Arc Flash, power system studies experience preferred
- Experience with the design of power systems for Midstream Oil & Gas, Refinery, and Industrial Energy clients
- Knowledge or familiarity with PLC programming and systems is a plus
- Effective at communicating with management, customers, and vendors
- Motivated, self-starter who will take ownership of tasks
Requirements:
- Must have a Texas Professional Engineering (PE) License
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening
- Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam
- Must have a valid driver’s license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record
- Must be available for occasional overnight domestic travel when necessary
