Director, Internal Audits
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to oversee our internal audit function, ensuring comprehensive risk-based audit coverage. The Director of Internal Audits will play a pivotal role in evaluating our governance, risk management, and internal control systems. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on a variety of operational and regulatory compliance audits and reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of the Internal Audit Workplan, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee audit processes, ensuring adherence to departmental standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with the Office of Inspector General and Medicaid Inspector General standards.
- Act as a key liaison between internal departments, including Executive Management and Compliance Officers.
- Conduct audits on medical record documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Present audit findings and recommendations to Executive Management, fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of internal audit professionals, promoting professional growth and accountability.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field is required.
- At least 10 years of experience in a supervisory role within auditing, preferably in healthcare.
- In-depth knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/10 codes, CMS Guidelines, and federal and state compliance regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough audits and assessments.
- Proven ability to manage and lead teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and related auditing software.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires occasional lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds, along with activities such as climbing, bending, and standing. It is essential that candidates can perform these duties, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
