Job TypeDirect Hire

This Quality Control Manager role in Columbus, OH leads project-level QA/QC for architectural rollout programs and production teams. You'll be the technical authority who catches coordination conflicts, code issues, and constructability risks before drawings go out the door. If you've spent your career producing and reviewing construction documents, especially for retail and restaurant work, this is where that expertise becomes the job.

What you'll do

  • Review drawings, specifications, reports, and consultant deliverables for completeness, coordination, constructability, and code compliance
  • Identify and resolve technical deficiencies, omissions, and interdisciplinary coordination conflicts with project teams
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the firm's QA/QC program, standards, procedures, checklists, and quality tools
  • Prepare, edit, and maintain project specifications
  • Provide technical guidance on construction documentation standards, risk management, and code compliance
  • Train staff on quality standards, document production, and QA/QC procedures
  • Support construction administration by evaluating project issues and flagging quality concerns

What you bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
  • Registered Architect preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in an architectural practice, with extensive experience producing and reviewing construction documents
  • Demonstrated experience with quality assurance, quality control, code compliance, and technical review, plus coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • Extensive knowledge of retail and restaurant project delivery, strong command of CSI MasterFormat, and a thorough understanding of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning, accessibility, and life-safety requirements, plus construction methods, materials, and detailing
  • Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office; CSI certifications are a plus. You also bring a sharp eye for coordination issues and technical risks before issuance, and the ability to give constructive feedback while managing multiple reviews and deadlines

Why this role

  • You'll set the quality standard for a national, multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, and development firm's rollout programs
  • Real influence: you'll build and refine the firm's QA/QC program, not just follow it
  • Mentoring and technical oversight for Architects, Project Managers, and production staff
  • Work that spans retail, restaurant, commercial, mixed-use, and other project types
