Job TypeDirect Hire
This Senior Project Manager role in Columbus, OH puts you in charge of large, complex architectural projects and the Project Managers who run them. You'll own delivery strategy, financial performance, and key client relationships for a national, multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, and development firm. It's a senior seat with real authority: you'll work independently, report to studio leadership, and help shape how the studio grows.
What you'll do
- Provide executive-level leadership on large, high-value architectural projects from pre-design and programming through construction documents, permitting, bidding, construction administration, and closeout
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects and Project Managers, setting delivery strategies, staffing plans, and execution frameworks
- Take full financial accountability for your project portfolio: budgets, fee allocations, forecasting, billing approval, labor utilization, and profitability
- Serve as senior point of contact for key clients and strategic accounts, leading high-level meetings, presentations, and project reviews
- Lead contract and fee negotiations with clients and consultants, manage scope changes and additional services, and keep risk in check
- Lead QA/QC and oversee coordination of structural, MEP, civil, landscape, interiors, and specialty consultants
- Mentor Project Managers and architectural staff, and support proposals, client interviews, and business development
What you bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
- Registered Architect (RA) licensure strongly preferred
- Minimum of 15–20 years of architectural experience, including at least 5 years in a Project Manager role
- Proven experience managing large, complex architectural projects, running multiple projects at once, and mentoring Project Managers
- Advanced project financial management and forecasting skills, plus experience negotiating fees, scope, and contracts
- Expert knowledge of architectural design, documentation, construction processes, building codes, zoning, and building systems
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, Deltek Vantagepoint (or similar), BIM coordination tools, and Adobe Creative Suite
Why this role
- A true senior leadership role: you'll manage Project Managers, not just projects, and work with minimal supervision
- Direct influence on studio operations, staffing, and resource planning alongside the Managing Director
- Client-facing ownership of strategic accounts, with room to grow repeat business and expand services
- A hand in leadership development and succession planning across the studio
