A leading Southern California heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee infrastructure, roadway, and public works projects across the region. This organization is known for delivering high-quality work, strong client partnerships, and longstanding relationships with state and municipal agencies.

About the Role

The Project Manager will lead the full project lifecycle—from pre-construction through closeout—managing field teams, subcontractors, budgets, schedules, safety, and client communication. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and knows how to drive results without sacrificing quality or compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day project operations for roadway, structural concrete, drainage, and public works projects

• Oversee project budgets, cost controls, and forecasting

• Lead project scheduling, coordinating field activities, subcontractors, and material logistics

• Review and interpret plans, specs, and contract documents

• Maintain strong relationships with clients, inspectors, and agency representatives

• Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements

• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation

• Partner with superintendents to ensure productivity, quality, and timely project delivery

• Support estimating teams during bid preparation as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)

• 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction project management

• Proven success managing Caltrans, county, or city public works projects

• Strong understanding of roadway, concrete, grading, and utility scopes

• Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills

• Proficiency with project management and construction software (e.g., Bluebeam, P6, Procore, MS Project)

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and professional judgment
