Litigation Special Counsel Attorney

Location: Tampa, FL

Our client, a highly regarded AmLaw 50 law firm, is seeking a talented Litigation Special Counsel Attorney to join its Construction Practice Group in Tampa. This full-time, non-partner track role is ideal for a self-motivated attorney who thrives in an autonomous work setting and is eager to handle a high volume of matters.

Candidate Profile:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in Florida, in good standing.
  • 2-5 years of substantive litigation experience, with a focus on construction and design defect claims and insurance-related matters.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and oratory skills, with experience in drafting motions and conducting discovery.
  • Strong background in mediation, arbitration, and litigation of insurance claims; some trial experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience managing a team of paralegals and support staff is beneficial.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven track record in settling cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a variety of cases autonomously, focusing on construction and design defect litigation, often in arbitration settings rather than circuit court.
  • Conduct discovery, draft substantive motions, argue motions in court, and participate in depositions and trials as needed.
  • Collaborate with and support a high-performing legal team in the Tampa office.
  • Drive case progression effectively and maintain a proven track record in settling cases efficiently and strategically.
