We are in the hunt for a Rolling Mill Supervisor in the Latrobe area. 
 
 
Job Description
 
  • Provides production employees with guidance, direction, and supervision in support of departmental operations, including safety, product quality and continuous improvement.
  • Promptly addresses performance issues.
  • Actively promotes all company policies and expectations, especially in support of safety plans and results.
  • Plans and schedules operations within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Maintains a positive work environment by regularly communicating with employees on the shop floor and responds to employee issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintains well-organized and productive work areas.
  • Works with others to achieve department and company goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the development of standard work instructions and other training materials.
  • Conduct and/or assist with conducting training modules with shop floor personnel.
  • Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Roller Responsibilities include:

  • Direct and assist all major aspects of the hot rolling operation, including schedule planning, roll changes, size changes, guide adjustments, speed calculations, and minor mill maintenance. Inspect mill stands and other key equipment for proper alignment, cooling, and lubrication and make adjustments as required.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all key mill equipment and report any equipment, instrument, or computer device malfunction.
  • Understand and utilize automated inspection equipment to monitor material size and surface condition during the hot rolling operation. Adjust mill parameters accordingly to restore the safe, quality processing of material.
  • Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR

  • Two year college degree preferred. High school diploma required.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing/operational environment required.
  • Hot Rolling experience, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize and make appropriate decisions. Strong problem solving and project management skills.
  • Practical understanding of industrial/manufacturing principles, standards, methods, and practices. Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving methods.
  • Ability to direct and supervise others, objectively evaluate performance, and train and develop others.
  • Willingness to work in a production-oriented environment and the ability to work overtime, weekend work and shift work.
  • Willing to work in a fast paced, every changing work environment.
