Who are we?

My client, Siogel Advanced Materials Inc.,  is committed to fostering innovation in materials science. Its particular emphasis is on developing groundbreaking material solutions for the aviation and oil and gas industries.

Why us?

We focus on innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Our current project aims to enhance Graphene-Aerogel, addressing critical challenges in fuel efficiency, durability, and energy conservation across industries such as oil and gas and aviation.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team.  This is a paid internship for all students eligible to study and work in Canada.    You will be working on a groundbreaking project centred around enhancing Graphene-Aerogel.

What will you do?

  • Engage in rigorous research and testing to validate theoretical foundations and participate in developing a variant that effectively regulates fluid diffusion while maintaining superior insulating properties.
  • Collaborate with team members to design experiments and analyze results.
  • Utilize advanced characterization techniques and data analysis tools to assess material properties, especially composites.
  •  Participate in the synthesis and fabrication of nanomaterials and aerogels.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations to communicate findings.

What do you bring to the role?

Required Qualifications/Skills:

·        Master’s or Ph.D. student in Material Science or a related field.

·        Strong understanding of nanostructured materials, particularly Graphene and Aerogels.

·        Expertise in thermal and fluid dynamics, including diffusion processes.

·        Knowledge of mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elasticity, and durability.

·        Experience in the design and testing of composite materials ( e.g. Graphene + Aerogel) with multifunctional properties.

Desired Skills:

·        Material Science Expertise:

o   Deep understanding of nanostructured materials, particularly Graphene and Aerogels.

o   Expertise in the behavior of materials under thermal stress and fluid interactions, including diffusion processes.

o   Knowledge of the mechanical behavior of lightweight, high-strength materials, including tensile strength, elasticity, and durability.

o   Experience in the design and testing of composite materials, particularly those with multifunctional properties like Graphene and Aerogels.

·        Engineering Design and Analysis:

o   Proficiency in using FEA tools to simulate material behavior under various conditions.

o   Ability to model fluid flow and diffusion in porous media using CFD tools.

·        Synthesis and Fabrication:

o    Experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials and aerogels, including chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and other relevant methods.

o   Proficiency in using characterization tools such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).

·        Environmental Impact Assessment:

o   Understanding of the environmental impact of materials, with experience in conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) and designing for sustainability.

·        Soft Skills:

o   Ability to approach complex problems with innovative solutions.

o   Experience in managing research projects from inception to completion.

o   Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

What We Offer:
